Danny Way Jumps the Great Wall of China

Danny Way Jumps the Great Wall of China: "today Danny Way pulled off the jump o the Great Wall of China five times in front of a crowd of Chinese dignitaries and officials, along with his family and friends and thousands of locals."

I know I know. This isn't strictly snowboarding related.

But what the hell - the great wall of China? I remember thinking the whole helicopter drop thing was crazy...

Danny Way, you are a machine.

My bone with DCshoes...

Ok, so 2 years ago, DC releases what is now know to be the best shoe ever made.

A Colin McKay sig shoe named the "focus model". The real beauty of this shoe is it's versatility.

You can wear them to the sateboard ramp, and then, without changing shoes, wear them into a nightclub that enforces dress codes. The perfect shoe for me... or so I thought...

My bone: DC doesn't make this shoe any more! So please DC, if you are going to put excellent shoes like this on the market AT LEAST make them for more then one season.

I've gone shoe shopping like 20 times trying to replace them, and I always come back empty handed.

My beloved size 9.5 "Focus Model" Colin Mcay signature shoe. Note the fancy black stuff on the heel: that's known as the 'backdoor' to get into any trendy nightclub. BANGIN'.

MTV's "Made" Tries To Jazz Up Ratings...

MTV's "Made" Goes Snowboarding: "MTV's 'Made' Goes Snowboarding
MTV will attempt to turn a high school priss into a bonafied snow shredder in just six weeks on this week's episode of 'Made.' Tune in tomorrow night (Wednesday, July 13) to see how this teen fares in her quest for snowboarding glory. The show should be fun to watch because you never know how the person will turn out. I've seen everything from BMX riders to opera singers and cheerleaders with some very mixed results. Check MTV.com for tv listings."

Is this a good thing? At the risk of pissing off the snowboard community, I'm going to say... yes.

You thought I was more antidisestablishmentateralist then that, didn't you.

I'm mainstream baby. I watch blind date. Which reminds me... "pimp my ride" is on soon, I gotta get outta here...

Some weird guys snowboard trip

Twisted Dirty Logic in Space:
"Hello Readers,

I went down to Perisher last weekend and Snowboarded for the very first time. Wow what fun! I went up with my parents and my brother, who came down from Sydney by Train. Both Bill and I did a 2 Hour Snowboarding Lesson with a nice snowboard teacher named Jasmin. Then we hit the slope marked in yellow where my Mum and Dad where skiing. I fell over a bit, but really its not as hard as skiing, no poles and your legs don't fly everywhere. (I took the big 8 seater chair light up that little hill, which doesnt seem much on the map but kept my whole family entertained all day). "

Is it just me... or does this guy (yes he is over 20 according to his website) seem WAY too scarily nice.

Is he a virgn? I don't know.

But I do know this: girls don't like pussies. Girls HAVE pussies, but they don't date them.

Go figure.

Oakley A Frame: Does it Ever Get Old?

Oakley A Frame Snowboarding Goggle Review: "The Oakley A Frame goggle has been around for several years, but it never goes out of style. The A Frame is a little narrow, but it works great with a helmet and is available in a seemingly endless array of frame colors and lens combinations."

Well, that was some reviewers opinion.

Here's what I think:

The key to looking rad on the slopes is to wear full leather jackets and pants.

Sure, goggles sort of come into it, but let's be honest - they're not catching the attention of the opposite sex the same way those skin tight black seal skins are - are they?

John

PS I can hear some whiner right now "but what about visbility, doesn't goggle performance matter???" - so if that's you, listen up buckwheat: snowboarding is about looking cool. Not riding well. If you get your pose on properly, you're getting laid (and that goes whether you are a guy or girl), and last time I looked, that's the only thing people on a snow holiday care about anyway. And if you work in a ski village that goes quadruple for YOU... doesn't it... you skeezy little buggers...

World Record! Mads Jonsson Goes Huge & Kills It!

World Record! Mads Jonsson Makes Snowboarding History: "snowboarding history books with a monumental solo session on a 40 meter (130 feet) table top stomping a huge backside 180 and the smoothest and most stylish monster frontside 360 seen to date. When all was said and done, the official distace was measured at 187 feet."

Scary, scary, scary stuff.

What is not aparrent to most people that have never really gone big is the amount of SPEED you need.

I can't imagine what Mads ground speed would have been, but I'm guessing it would have been over 100 clicks an hour.

At that speed I'm sure the only thing he could hear over the noise of the wind blowing past him, was the voice in the back of his head saying "just don't catch a f#$^ing edge..."
